Chapter 16 Presentation is Up!

We just finished Chapter 16 today in class. Please take a few minutes and review the chapter – I have posted the presentation I gave in class today on our site here. Find the link for it here.

Remember, for homework you are to complete the online quizzes for Chapters 15 and 16. You can use your notes from class and it is expected that you earn a 100% on these quizzes! Take your time and answer the questions!

Once we meet in class again, on the 26th, we will review the answers to Chapters 15 and 16. You will need to study over them for your test on those chapters.

Final Study Guide

Your final, however, will be encompassing all three tests we have taken this quarter on Chapters 7-9, 12-13, and 15-16. Make sure you review your old tests – as the questions will be pulled from those sources. Your old tests ARE YOUR STUDY GUIDES!

Class Assignments for 5.18.10

Well, you may have noticed that today, we are in the computer lab. So, let’s get to work! Today you will discover on your own the causes of the civil war!

Introduction to the Civil War Video – if you have a chance, watch it!

First, review the presentation I put together for Chapter 15 – the Road to Civil War. (If your browser doesn’t display it correctly, just follow the link)

You will need to answer the questions on the Chapter 15 Review (find the link for the document at the bottom of the page) Рso make sure you have a separate piece of paper for you to record your answers on. Look over the presentation, answer the questions on a separate sheet of paper and turn in to me.

Your final assignment of the day is to learn more about who John Brown was. On the same web page for Chapter 15, near the bottom of the page, you will see some instructions for the “John Brown Activity”. Follow those instructions – you will be reading more about John Brown and you will also be investigating primary sources that describe what happened. Email me the results of your questions and you’re done!

Beginning Chapters 15 and 16 – The Civil War

So, here we are at the end of the year in probably the young nation’s most dramatic moment – Civil War. We will investigate how the war broke out and what caused it.

Here is a quick, 4 minute tour of how the Civil War went down.

Practice for Chapter Quizzes Now Available

I just uploaded some practice quizzes for chapters 12, 13, 15, and 16. These are not going to be identical to the quizzes you get in class – but they will help you analyze what information you should know for the quizzes and the tests.

They are online and will allow you to practice and get instant feedback. They also tell you where in the book you need to look should you need to find the answer.

To access them, just follow this link. Or, place your mouse over the Review tab and navigate to the Quizzes page. Like this > Review > Quizzes.

Update! 4th Quarter Pacing Guide Changed

I was looking over the pacing guide for the final quarter and I decided that we would be trying to do too much to finish off the year. So, I tweaked things and we will be focusing on the more important chapters to close out the year. The new 4th Quarter Pacing Guide reflects this. So, take a look.

Also, I am going to be uploading practice quizzes for chapters 12, 13, 15, and 16. Please take the time to use those tools as they give you instant feedback on questions you are missing. They are not exhaustive – but they will give you practice working with the kinds of questions and material for those chapters. Don’t forget to complete your chapter reviews for more specific information about what is going to be on those tests.

One more thing – don’t just toss your quizzes, tests, and review guides. The final will be cumulative – meaning that you will see all of these questions again!
