US History is Coming Soon to University School!

Hey everyone!

Just wanted to take a minute and update on the progress of the site a bit. I am a new teacher at University School and I am excited to be teaching American History Honors this year. I feel that this course is one of the most important we could undertake the study of while in school. It will inform you about our collective history and help define what it means to be an American. It will help you form your own beliefs about the individual and the role of government.

Over the coming weeks I will be updating the site to serve as a hub for our studies this year. In addition to the tools we will be accessing in class, of course.

So for the next week, sit back and relax and enjoy those fleeting moments of what remains of your summer!

Chapter 16 Presentation is Up!

We just finished Chapter 16 today in class. Please take a few minutes and review the chapter – I have posted the presentation I gave in class today on our site here. Find the link for it here.

Remember, for homework you are to complete the online quizzes for Chapters 15 and 16. You can use your notes from class and it is expected that you earn a 100% on these quizzes! Take your time and answer the questions!

Once we meet in class again, on the 26th, we will review the answers to Chapters 15 and 16. You will need to study over them for your test on those chapters.

Final Study Guide

Your final, however, will be encompassing all three tests we have taken this quarter on Chapters 7-9, 12-13, and 15-16. Make sure you review your old tests – as the questions will be pulled from those sources. Your old tests ARE YOUR STUDY GUIDES!

Beginning Chapters 15 and 16 – The Civil War

So, here we are at the end of the year in probably the young nation’s most dramatic moment – Civil War. We will investigate how the war broke out and what caused it.

Here is a quick, 4 minute tour of how the Civil War went down.

Updated: Presentations Also Have Short Films

I just uploaded some short films to each chapter presentation to help you prepare and learn more about our nation’s history. There is a link under “Films” on each chapter’s presentation page. Once you click on it, you will be redirected to another page where there is a video library waiting for you featuring a video for each section of the chapter. They are only a few minutes long and do a great job of summarizing what each section is about. Take a few minutes to help yourself study and watch those videos!

Next Up: Chapters 12 and 13

In order to prepare you for the next test (on chapters 12 and 13 on May 12th), I have created new study guides for both chapters.

Those of you who may have worked ahead and have already done Chapter 12’s review, will have to get a copy of the new updated version.

These study guides cover all the possible questions on the test. We will be working on them in class in our groups, and then review them. Be sure to hold on to your copies so that you can study them. You will find them under > Study Tools > Chapter Review section of the site.
