Even though we started building our Roman villas today, I don’t want you all to forget that your test for Capitulum V will be on Thursday! I gave you all the study guide – which is the actual test you will be taking! Study over it, practice filling in those endings. The part we did not cover in class will NOT be on the test – so don’t worry about that. Bonam fortunam!
Latin I MS – Capitulum 5
And so we begin the 4th quarter today! We are going to work through Capitulum V and Capitulum VI this quarter. Starting with Capitulum V today, remember you have to start working on your Crossword puzzle and Derivatives for the chapter. They will be due in a few weeks, but it never hurts to get started early! Make sure to download them by going to the Class Materials > Crosswords or Class Materials > Derivatives navigation at the top of this page. (Nota Bene! Get the Crosswords and Derivatives for Capitulum V!)
We are going to go over the objectives for this chapter today as well. Remember to keep a close eye on your objectives so that you know what skills you are trying to learn and what skills you will be responsible for mastering in this chapter.
Latin I HS – Capitulum 8!
The final quarter is here and we are going to wrap up our first year of Latin in style! Our goal is to get to Capitulum X before the year is over and we are well on pace for that.
So, as usual, to start our new chapter, Capitulum VIII, you will need to download the crossword and the derivative exercises for the chapter. The crossword isn’t up yet, but the derivatives are ready – you can download them here.
Make sure you also get a copy of the Objectives for Capitulum VIII so you know what to focus on for this chapter.
Changes: Class Materials
I’ve updated the website a bit. I have created a category known as “Class Materials” on the navigation bar above. Here you will find various assignments I will want you to complete for class such as the chapter crossword puzzles or even the English derivatives. Both of these assignments will help you assimilate your Latin vocabulary as well as develop your English diction.
We will also be taking a new approach to our class. Whenever we come to a new chapter, you will be responsible for completing both the crossword and the derivatives for that chapter. You will be expected to turn in that work before we take the quiz for that chapter – so you can get it done at your own pace but you will be responsible for completing it! This will give you further help in getting the meaning of those words to stick.
Midterm Study Guide: Latin I High School
As promised, here is your midterm study sample. There are two stories which you will be responsible for on the midterm – both are contained in the document attached here. Read them over and don’t try to memorize the story, learn how the characters are acting and the plot of each story. This will reinforce your knowledge of the vocabulary and grammar. If you really want to solidify your knowledge, try composing questions in Latin that ask about certain events in the story.
Bonam fortunam habe! Your midterm is 1/11/10!
