The new syllabus has been uploaded!

Here is the link for the syllabus itself:

You can also navigate over to the “Syllabus” tab to find the document there. You must print out the last page, sign it, and return it to me so I can put it on your file. You are responsible for everything that is mentioned in the syllabus – so be sure to read it over!

New Syllabus Coming Soon

The syllabus for the 2011-2012 school year is not quite ready yet. Stay tuned to the Syllabus section of the site for the latest version. I will not be giving students a printed out version of the syllabus in order to save paper and resources, but instead will have a PDF copy embedded there. I will also upload the latest syllabus into our Group Documents section, as well.

Summer Preparations 2011

Welcome to AP Art History! In order to get you prepared for the subject, I want you to take on reading a small book that will introduce you to themes about art and how they are introduced into contemporary art.

Make sure you get a copy of our summer preparations document:

Also, take a look at our old syllabus from last year to get a feel for what kind of work we will be doing.

If you have any further questions, email me! Have a great summer and see you in class!

2010-2011 Syllabus Coming Soon

Well, less than a week to go and I know everyone is nervously awaiting the beginning of school!

Remember, you have to get your summer reading done – we are going to be having discussions online that first week. I know some of you are joining the class late and will probably need some guidance on what to do. Also, only three of us have signed up for the group while there are 19 in the class. The other 16 have to get on the ball!

I am working on finalizing the syllabus for the course for the year now. I will not be handing it out in class, but instead referring to the site here. Get used to it, we are going to be doing a lot of “paperless” work over the course of the year! See you guys soon!

AP Art History: Revised Syllabus

As we discussed in class previously, we are changing the syllabus around to better serve our remaining time before the AP Exam in May.

Since we have lagged behind in class sifting through all of the ancient material, I have altered the remaining assignments to expedite things. You will find attached here the new “pacing guide”. The assignment dates and testing dates are etched IN STONE now. I have broken down the content of the course into three sections – based on the percentages usually seen in survey courses in college. We will finish up with Ancient to Medieval this semester; then Renaissance to Present for the 3rd quarter and finally Beyond the European Tradition from the last part of the 3rd and into the 4th quarter. We will be conducting our review about two weeks before the AP Exam and the review will be based on comparing European with Non-European art.

The dates in bold are the due dates for flashcards, tests, and synopses and analyses. NOTA BENE!! Remember that you have to have a set of flashcards (10 key terms, 10 major works of art WITH images), a synopsis and an analysis per each chapter!
