TEST: CH 18-22 Art History Essay Exam (due 2/29)

I’ve adapted today’s test to be a more comprehensive essay exam. I think this will be more productive in the long run as you need to get used to writing essay more in a timed format. This exam will be a take-home exam in that you will be required to write your essays and share via Google Docs with me – there are 5 essays in total covering Chapters 18-22 and all are due by 2/29.

Make sure you read all of the prompts carefully. The idea is that you will have 50 minutes to take the test – 10 minutes per essay. Try to stick to that as much as possible as you are practicing writing for the AP exam in May.

Here is the test itself – make sure you look it over and when you are writing your essay in Google Docs, make sure you clarify each essay as Essay 1, Essay 2, etc.

Homework: Baroque Short Essay due 2/27

Remember to write your essay and share it with me via Google Docs so I can give you some feedback. Here is the prompt:

Selecting an image from the Baroque art in chapter 22, write an essay that addresses the cultural and/or political and social concerns of the era. You must fully identify the image you selected, include the key reasons why you selected this image, and support your selection with SPECIFIC examples which connect both visual and contextual elements.

Your score will be graded on  Understanding (either 60 points, 50 points, or 40 points) and Quality (either 40 points, 30 points, or 20 points). Understanding will expect that you show how well you understand the artistic concepts of Baroque art while your Quality category will be fulfilled based on the execution of your writing.

Get writing! It is due 2/27! Remember, this is supposed to be a SHORT ESSAY and should stick to one paragraph of about 4-5 sentences.
