Homework and Flash Cards due 11/30; Exam MOVED

Make sure you are reading from your textbook (see Syllabus) and also have your Flash Cards for CH 19 completed for 11/30.

I am also moving your Exam from 12/2 to 12/6. I want to make sure we cover CH 16 in class, and we will need two class periods to do that. It is multiple choice with a total of 82 questions, following the same format as the previous exam.

TEST 10/26; Flash Cards CH 7 Due 10/26

Your test for CH 2-3, 5-6 will be held on 10/26. It will be multiple choice, so make sure you are reviewing the art work from those chapters.

Your Flash Cards for CH 7 are also due on that same day – so make sure you get them done now if you are opting the “non-Ediscio” route. They will count towards the 2nd quarter.

Summer Reading Review Questions Due Friday 9/2

This week, you need to work on your review questions for our summer reading, “But Is It Art: An Introduction to Art Theory” by Cynthia Freeland.

The assignment is simple – there are 20 questions, grouped according to each of the 7 chapters, that you have to answer fully. What does this mean? Don’t just say yes or no, explain your reasoning with specific examples from the text. You have to validate your interpretations. There is NO right or wrong answer, just some that are better and more convincing. You will be graded on how well you convince me of your point which will also reflect how deeply you read the book.

You will need to create a Google Doc to complete your work. So, open the document here and get started – make sure you share your Google Doc  ONLY with me and use my email magister@ricardacademy.info. This assignment is due on Friday, September 2nd when you come to class. It will be worth a test grade! Good luck!

Art Project due 5/24

A final project, worth a test grade, to end the year. Why not?

This project can be as simple or as complex as you choose to make it. All I want is a piece of art created by you that is either an homage to a favorite artist of yours (preferably one you discovered this year!) or an attempt at a particular style we studied this year. Remember, you don’t have to be the most technically gifted artist in the world to create a piece of art! Just explore some of the styles we have looked at and find one that matches up with your tastes, interests, and skills and get to work! Be prepared to bring it into class and explain it – as an artist/art historian – to the rest of your class.
