Summer Reading Review Questions Due Friday 9/2

This week, you need to work on your review questions for our summer reading, “But Is It Art: An Introduction to Art Theory” by Cynthia Freeland.

The assignment is simple – there are 20 questions, grouped according to each of the 7 chapters, that you have to answer fully. What does this mean? Don’t just say yes or no, explain your reasoning with specific examples from the text. You have to validate your interpretations. There is NO right or wrong answer, just some that are better and more convincing. You will be graded on how well you convince me of your point which will also reflect how deeply you read the book.

You will need to create a Google Doc to complete your work. So, open the document here and get started – make sure you share your Google Doc  ONLY with me and use my email magister@ricardacademy.info. This assignment is due on Friday, September 2nd when you come to class. It will be worth a test grade! Good luck!

Summer Preparations 2011

Welcome to AP Art History! In order to get you prepared for the subject, I want you to take on reading a small book that will introduce you to themes about art and how they are introduced into contemporary art.

Make sure you get a copy of our summer preparations document:

Also, take a look at our old syllabus from last year to get a feel for what kind of work we will be doing.

If you have any further questions, email me! Have a great summer and see you in class!

AP Art History 2010-2011: Summer Reading

Hello everyone!

Welcome to your new home for all things Art History online! Get used to using the site as this is going to be your central hub for assignments, announcements, updates, and other things we are going to do in class.

Let’s get right to it – I have attached your Summer Reading activity in this post. I haven’t set up the site just yet for everything (you will each get your own blog to serve as an online journal for class as well as have access to a message board for group discussions) but stay tuned. Also, you may want to follow me on Twitter as I make updates regarding dues dates and other assignments. Your AP exam will be in May, but we are really on the clock right now! So, let’s get started!
