New Syllabus Coming Soon

The syllabus for the 2011-2012 school year is not quite ready yet. Stay tuned to the Syllabus section of the site for the latest version. I will not be giving students a printed out version of the syllabus in order to save paper and resources, but instead will have a PDF copy embedded there. I will also upload the latest syllabus into our Group Documents section, as well.

Online Flashcards

Usually, I have students create their own flashcards for each chapter. These sets consist of key terms and major works of art from each chapter. I grade them according to a point system – 1 point per key term, 3 points per major work of art.

This year, we are going to change things a bit. Instead of each individual student making a set of flashcards, which I then have to count through, examine, grade, and give back to each student, we are going to be creating our flashcards online.

It will be a collaborative project, too. This means that every student will spend more time studying the flashcards instead of producing them. We are going to use a website to accomplish this, too. I will create the class and invite each student to join that class. Every chapter will still have to have flashcards produced for it, but we can integrate more web-friendly options such as images and even video. Stay tuned!

AP Art History Exam Tomorrow!!

First of all, don’t doubt yourselves. You have been reading and studying all year long and you know more than you will give yourself credit for. There will be things on the test that you may not know, just try and use the skills you have learned to formulate the best judgment you can.

Then again, there are going to be things that you will remember because they will be pulled from your mind causing you to recollect things you may not even realize you knew.

So, be positive. Think positive. Feel confident about yourself and your chances of passing the exam. Remember, a goal of a 5 is nice, but you only need to score a 3 or higher to get college credit. You can do it!

One last tip – don’t cram! Let your mind get the rest it needs. You are better off getting a full 8 hour sleep with a big and hearty breakfast in the morning than cramming! Eat proteins, omega 3 fats! No caffeine or sugar! Give yourself an advantage and be alert and ready and KNOW you are prepared to succeed!

Good luck tomorrow! And remember, if you don’t know it, blame me!

Renaissance Festival Tomorrow!

Remember, we are going to be meeting up at the Renaissance Festival tomorrow at Quiet Waters park at 11am! We will be looking for everyone by the entrance. Attendance is not mandatory, but if you do go make sure you have something to keep as proof that you went – going is worth a free quiz grade! Entrance is $20.
