Welcome!
Initially, this site was created for my students to help serve them as an extra resource for their studies in my courses. There are several tools immediately available for their use once they register a profile and enroll in their class’ group.
For each group we have forums for discussions, wikis so students can create their own database, a group documents section, and more. It’s a great way for students to stay organized and proactive in regards to their education.
Outside of the main portion of the site, there are sites constructed around each course that also can serve as reservoirs for assignments and information. Click on the “blogs” tab on the top menu to find your way to those courses or within each group there are links to our main sites.
I have also initiated this site with the intent to offer resources that I find useful to my peers as well. If you are a teacher, please feel free to look over the site and leave comments or contact me if you want more information. My professional blog is A Fire Kindled which I use to cover various topics fusing technology and education.
Orientation
On the main page, there will be information which will update from time to time informing the community about general topics of interest and events. For individual courses, students should turn to their specific course blogs about tests, homework, any changes to the syllabus or perhaps points about certain subjects that may help them.
Of course every student should join their class group and be ready to get involved in discussions and help build their collective knowledge by working on their wikis as well.
This year, I am teaching several courses:
If you have any further questions, feel free to contact me or post them in the forum at the Welcome Party! of which everyone who joins the site is a member. There may be others in the group that could answer your question, too, so ask around! Make friends! And if all else fails, try the Help? blog, too.
